Culture & Ecology Network

The Culture & Ecology Network (formerly the Performance & Ecology Network) is a group of people (performance makers, directors, designers of varying breeds, makers, producers, production managers, dramaturgs, people who write about performance, people who watch performance, others) interested in the intersection between culture-making and thinking about our relationship with our environment.
In the past, the network has explored questions (practical and philosophical) about making work in an ecological context; had visiting guest speakers; shared our own experiences and eaten baked goods.

The Network met more or less regularly in 2013 and early 2014. After a pause, and in response to various events and emails, it feels like the right time to start meeting again. The January meeting explored the theme of ‘Narratives of the Future’ and the February meeting had the theme of ‘Interrogating Images of Climate Change.’ Our March meeting will explore the theme of Mobility: How and why do we travel and tour as artists? The session will invite participants to consider the advantages and disadvantages of being mobile and to explore and challenge potential alternatives.
We will also be meeting around London on:
April 27, 2015
May 26, 2015
June 29, 2015

The group is convened by Dan Barnard and Rachel Briscoe (fanSHEN) and Lisa Woynarski. The project is designed to be useful, intellectually stimulating and fun.
Please feel free to join the Facebook group.
